Airport terminals in Vienna (5 minutes), Barcelona-El Prat (7 minutes) and Terminal D in Zurich (11 minutes), which handle between 20 and 40 million passengers, are the ones that take the shortest time to board passengers, according to a study carried out by Kayak.
The most efficient airports in moving passengers from security checks to the boarding gate are the Vienna International Airport, Barcelona-El Prat and Zurich.
In this same group we also find Roma-Fiumicino and Paris-Orly, both with 13-minute wait time, while Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 40 million passengers, takes 15 minutes to board its passengers. According to Kayak, Moscow-Domodedovo airport takes the longest (20 minutes).
Heathrow, London’s international airport, processes arrivals from security checks at the boarding gates of Terminals 1, 2, 4 & 5 in 4 minutes. It takes a total of 5 minutes at Terminal 3, while Paris Charles de Gaulle lags behind with 12 minutes on average.
Among the airports with between 10 and 20 million passengers, the researchers singled out Berlin Tegel with 18 million passengers and 3 minutes on average.
By contrast, the Milan-Malpensa airport spends 12 minutes while Warsaw and Nice spend 5 minutes on transfers.
