According to the latest statistics published by the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, tourism revenues in Tunisia have increased since the beginning of the year and until September 10, by 4.7% in Tunisian dinars, to 1674 million dinars and 7.5% in dollars (to 605 million dollars), compared to the same period of 2020. Now, the Tunisian Ministry of Health announced new entry requirements for visitors arriving in the country.

Recently, the president of the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies (FTAV) Jabeur Ben Attouch reported that domestic tourism has saved the season. According to him, Tunisian tourists are more profitable than foreign tourists. Nevertheless, international visitors are still crucial for the industry. New entry requirements are expected to attract more holidaymakers to the country.

According to the new measures, non-resident passengers arriving in Tunisia, regardless of their vaccination status, are required to present a negative RT-PCR test bearing a QR-code, with a date of completion no later than 72 hours upon check-in at the airport of departure. Children under 12 years of age are exempted.

It is also necessary to fill in and sign the online information form on app.e7mi.tn and print the two documents generated by the application (the health form and the commitment form), to be presented to the transport companies and to the health services at the thermal control point at the border

It should be noted that all these passengers can be subjected to a rapid screening (RDT-Antigen) conducted on a sample of passengers upon arrival. In case of a positive result, the person concerned will be transferred to a Health Isolation Center.

Non-resident passengers arriving in Tunisia who have not been vaccinated or who do not have a complete vaccination schedule are required, in addition to the measures mentioned above to undergo mandatory 10-day confinement at their own expense, justified by the presentation of a reservation document and confirmation of payment (voucher) in one of the Confinement Centers dedicated for this purpose indicated in the list on the following link: ontt.tn/ar/blagh. They also need to perform an RT-PCR test at their charge within the last 24 hours, provided that the test result is delivered on the 10th day of the mandatory containment.

The voucher must include the cost of transfer from the airport to the Containment Center, accommodation and the cost of the RT-PCR test to be performed during the last 24 hours.

Non-resident passengers arriving in Tunisia on charter flights or scheduled flights (in block seats) as part of organized and supervised trips (inclusive tours) are exempt from the mandatory 10-day confinement provided that they present a negative RT-PCR test upon check-in at the airport of departure not exceeding 72 hours from the date of obtaining the result. Children under 12 years of age are exempt. They also need to fill in and sign the online information form on app.e7mi.tn and print the two documents generated by the application (the health form and the commitment form), to be presented to the health services at the thermal control point at the border. Furthermore, they must present the confirmation of reservation and payment (voucher) of an organized and supervised tourist trip (inclusive tour) through a Tour Operator. They need to comply with the groups managed (cohorting) upon arrival in Tunisia, namely tourist transport, accommodation and tourist travel to and from tourist accommodation establishments.

Non-resident passengers arriving in Tunisia and having completed the vaccination scheme against Covid-19 are required to present a certificate issued to this effect by the Health Authorities of the country of residence, with a recommendation, without obligation, to comply with self-containment and to perform a screening test in case of appearance of Covid-19 symptoms.

Minors (under 18 years of age) unaccompanied or accompanying vaccinated adults are required to comply with a 10-day self-containment in the places of residence in Tunisia and to perform a PCR test on the 10th day.
