Do you want to travel the world? Maybe you just want to make sure that you have the best experience when you go to Thailand. Either way, you can find out everything that you need to know about making the trip right here.

You Don’t Need a Visa

If you are travelling from the US and are going to Thailand, then you’ll be glad to know that you don’t need a visa. You’ll be able to get one as soon as you arrive, but you do have to make sure that your passport has at least 6 months left. You can also get a 30-day visa at the airport.

Check the Weather Before you Go

Thailand is known for having two very distinct seasons and this can really impact your trip. If you are travelling to Thailand and you are on a budget, then you’ll need to make sure that you plan your trip so that you end up going between May and October. This might be during the monsoon season but at the end of the day, you will only have a few hours of rain each day. If you are willing to put up with this then you will be able to pick up some cheap flight deals, activities and even accommodation too. If you want to get that picture-perfect weather or if you want to go island hopping, then you might need to book your trip so that you go in the dry season. This would be during the November and April season. This is the best time for you to get high visibility when you go diving and the temperatures are nice and warm too.

Don’t Drink the Tap Water

Thailand’s tap water is not safe to drink. If you want to have the best time, then you need to take a reusable bottle of water to fill up either at your hotel or even by using the water dispensers that are located on the street. This will cost you a couple of Baht but you can easily fill up a litre at a time. If fruit and vegetables have been washed in tap water then avoid them, as this is another way that people get sick.

Visit the Elephants

If you are going to Thailand with the intention of riding elephants, then you should really try and avoid doing this where possible. This isn’t a trade that is looked upon positively and a lot of places around Thailand have actually banned it too. If you want to get up and close and personal with elephants, then you’ll be glad to know that there are plenty of sanctuaries and the elephants there are all rescued. They live a very natural life and a lot of the time you can go and visit them.

Island Hop

Some of the finest destinations in Thailand are in the south. This includes Pha Ngan, Phuket, Ko Phi Phi and more. If you want to have the best experience, then you need to make sure that you go and visit some of the islands that are in-between too. If you don’t then you may end up missing out and you may also find that you are not seeing the true wonder of Thailand too.

Buy a Sim Card

Sure, it’s easy for you to find a WiFi signal at most bars, shops, restaurants and even hotels. Even so, it’s a good idea for you to try and pick up a local SIM card when you go. The main reason for this is because they are super cheap, and you don’t need to worry about your own phone roaming charges.

Try Street Food

Thailand has some of the finest street food around. It doesn’t cost much for you to fill your plate up and when you do, you will soon find that you can try everything from Phad Thai to sticky rice and even mango too. If you are on a tight budget, then you’ll be glad to know that everything is super affordable, and you shouldn’t have a problem at all in getting everything under budget. If you aren’t sure what the food is like, then you should note that a lot of it is very spicy and if you aren’t careful then you might end up not being able to handle the heat.
