Tibet introduced a series of tourism policies for winter tourism, according to the regional department dedicated to the tourism industry development.

The policies launched last week, include free visits to the Potala Palace and other national 3A and top-level tourist attractions in the region.

An average minimum discount of 50% for off-season flights and a minimum discount of 50% for three-star hotels and above will also be applied compared to the high season (April to October).

The tourism policies will continue for five months until March 15, 2020, according to the authority.

These support policies were initially tested in 2018 and have proved to be highly effective and the rapid development of off-season tourism in Tibet was reported, according to the government agency.

In the first half of 2019, the region received more than 11.15 million domestic and foreign tourists, with revenues of about 12.47 billion yuan (about US$1.7 billion).
