The Tourism Board of Thailand (TAT) estimates that the total number of international tourists will be between 28 and 30 million people. TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said the revenue target is 2.38 trillion baht, representing about 80% of revenue recorded in 2019.
Since the beginning of the year, Thailand has welcomed 15 million international visitors, already more than the 11 million recorded last year.
The tourism sector received a positive boost thanks to the increase in visitor arrivals from China, which rose from an average of 300,000 people between January and June to 400,000 people in July.
The TAT predicts that international visitors from Europe and America will increase again from October, after this low tourist season.
Regarding domestic travel, the recently announced holiday has boosted domestic tourism to 20-25 million trips per month. TAT estimates that this figure is on track to reach its annual target of 117- 135 million trips.
