With the motto “There is no second chance to leave a first impression”, Basel Tourism is launching a “Flying Concierges” service together with the Basel Hotelier Union and the Grand Casino Basel. Volunteers are to help and advise tourists.
As early as on the occasion of the European football championships in 2008 in Switzerland and Austria, Basel Tourism has had good experiences in letting members of the population act as hosts. With “Flying Concierges”, they intend to repeat this success.
The tourism organization of the Swiss city is looking for about 100 volunteers for the project, who are supposed to great guests during important fairs and events, and to provide advice to anyone who desires it.
This can be anything from information about directions or tram connections to the tips regarding restaurants or shopping. “Particularly thanks to the currency problem which has made tourism difficult, it is important to make sure the guests become excited about Basel right from the outset,” explains Daniel Egloff, Director of Basel Tourism.
“We promise to make the guests feel even better with intensive supervision, which will make them want to come again and maybe share their positive experience with family and friends.”
Those interested can inform themselves about possible volunteering at an information evening on 16th April 2015 at 17:30 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Basel. Those who decide to get involved will receive Basel training and a guidebook, as well as a Flying Concierges uniform.
