According to the National Institute of Statistics and Information in Cuba, the country has seen a significant increase in international travelers from January to April this year. 1,217,395 visitors have arrived, marking a 190.3% increase from last year. Canada is the main source of tourists, with 495,905 visitors, followed by the United States, 54,595, and Russia, 44,144. Other significant source markets include Germany, France, England, Spain, Italy, and Mexico.
Additionally, 113,645 Cubans living abroad visited the country. Tourism recovery is crucial for the Cuban economy, which is facing one of its worst crises in recent decades. The government has set an ambitious target of 3.5 million international tourists for this year, a challenging goal that the authorities are working hard to achieve. In 2022, 1.6 million international travelers visited the country, based on official figures.
