The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) reported that during the period January-July 2022, the arrival of 1,517 cruise ships was recorded.
The Secretary of Tourism highlighted that the arrival of cruise passengers in Mexico, during the first seven months of 2022, represented a foreign exchange income of 271.7 million dollars, and the average expenditure was 75 dollars, surpassing by 18.2% higher what was registered in the same period of 2021 of 63.5 dollars.
It was pointed out that the ports that received the highest number of cruise passengers in Mexico were: Cozumel and Mahahual, in Quintana Roo; Ensenada, Baja California; Cabo San Lucas, South Baja California; Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco; and Mazatlán, Sinaloa; which accounted for 95.3% of the total number of passengers.
Torruco Marqués detailed that in the first seven months of the year, Cozumel, Quintana Roo, registered 645 arrivals, and 1,499,387 passengers; Mahahual, Quintana Roo, had 296 arrivals, with 670,208 cruise passengers.
From January to July 2022, Ensenada, Baja California, registered the arrival of 177 cruise ships, with 347,615 passengers; and in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, 124 vessels arrived with a total of 254,832 passengers.
In the January-July 2022 period, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, registered the arrival of 97 cruise ships and 215,102 passengers, while in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, 78 arrivals and 190,143 cruise passengers were reported.
