The tourism in Germany remains on a record wave. With 56 million overnight stays in August in total, hoteliers registered an increase of 3% compared to last year. The number of overnight stays by guests from abroad increased by 5% to 10.6 million, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office. For domestic travelers, there was an increase of 3% to 45.4 million.
German tourism continued the positive trend of the previous months. From January to August 2018, the number of overnight stays in Germany increased by 4% to 326 million compared to the same period last year. Among these, 59.9 million were foreigners and 266.1 million domestic guests. Both figures increased by 4%. The Federal Statistical Office counted the accommodation facilities with at least ten beds in their study.
Thanks to the warm summer and the good economy, the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) expects 2018 to be the ninth record year in terms of overnight stays in a row. “Germany has never been more attractive as a travel destination, congress and conference location,” said Dehoga President Guido Zöllick.
“The beautiful weather since April has made even more people want to holiday in their own country. In addition, German hotels are well positioned and belong to the top in terms of product and service offerings as well as value for money,” he added.
