Netherlands: Three New Museums in One Go
In 2025, Amsterdam celebrates its 750th anniversary with various cultural, sporting, and leisure events. Among the highlights will be the opening of three new museums:
The Drift Museum will be located in the historic Van Gendt Halls and will showcase the immersive works and performative installations created by the artist duo Drift.
The Zaanstad Amsterdam Museum (ZAMU) will open in autumn 2025 on the Hembrugterrein in Zaandam. This museum will feature large-format sculptures by internationally renowned artists displayed across 16 buildings.
The Suriname Museum will be situated on the Zeeburgerdijk in Amsterdam and will focus on the country's more than 350-year history and culture. This museum aims to fill a significant gap in national memory by exploring subjects such as Indigenous peoples, slavery, colonialism, and migration.
During its anniversary celebrations, these new cultural institutions will contribute significantly to Amsterdam's vibrant artistic landscape.
Greece: Crete Diving Park
Crete, the largest island in Greece, will introduce an exciting new tourist attraction in 2025: a diving park in Ombrosgialos, located near the port city of Chania. This park will offer visitors a captivating underwater adventure. An artificial reef is being constructed over 60,000 square meters, featuring 37 specially designed structures and two sunken warships, providing a new habitat for marine life and a paradise for diving enthusiasts. The depth of the park will range from 8.5 to 25 meters, catering to both beginners and experienced divers with a variety of opportunities. Construction began last October, and the park is set to open in the summer of 2025.
Great Britain: Luxury Train Hits the Rails
Starting in July 2025, the Britannic Explorer will usher in a new era of luxury rail travel in England and Wales. This exclusive sleeper train will depart from London, Victoria, and offer three to six-day trips to picturesque destinations, including Cornwall, the Lake District, and Wales. The train provides the highest comfort level with just 18 cabins—15 suites and three grand suites featuring marble bathrooms and butler service.
Designed by Albion Nord, the elegant interior reflects the beauty of the British countryside. Guests will be served meals prepared by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan, with menus emphasizing regional and seasonal ingredients. Two stylish dining cars, Malva and Samphire, create the perfect ambiance for an exceptional dining experience. The luxurious journey begins at approximately £11,000 per person.
