Cuba has recently announced several changes to its entry procedures for foreign travelers. The deadline for registering on the D’Viajeros platform and using the “Tarjeta del Turista” tourist card has been extended.
Since January 2023, all air travelers to Cuba must complete an online check-in (the D'Viajeros form). This process requires filling out an online form with personal, migratory, health, and customs data and the e-visa number. Previously, this form was only accessible to travelers 48 hours before arrival in Cuba. However, Cuba has extended this period to seven days to provide tourists more time to prepare and submit their information before departure. Since October 1, travelers can obtain their Cuba entry QR code up to a week before their arrival on the island.
Last August, Cuba introduced a new electronic visa system (e-Visa) to replace the tourist card. To avoid penalizing travelers who already had a tourist card during the transition to the e-Visa and authorized agencies that still had a stock of "Tarjeta del Turista," the Cuban authorities announced that the previously issued documents could be used until December 31, 2024.
The Cuban authorities have confirmed to Action-Visas that this deadline has been extended by six months, allowing tourist card holders to use them until June 30, 2025. Cuban diplomatic missions and authorized agencies no longer issue the tourist cards. International travelers must now apply for an electronic visa to travel to Cuba. The Cuban e-Visa is issued as a 10-character alphanumeric code and is non-nominative until the D'Viajeros form is completed seven days before departure.
