According to a recent survey conducted by Vamonos-Vacanze, a community of travelers, Puglia, Sardinia, and Sicily are the top three seaside destinations in Italy. The survey was conducted in June and included responses from 2,000 adults. Tourism Review presents the findings.

Puglia

Puglia, specifically the beach of Pugnochiuso in the municipality of Vieste, takes first place as a top seaside destination. Situated 20 km from Viestano, Pugnochiuso is a beautiful and secluded tourist center. It was founded in the sixties by Enrico Mattei, who discovered the green bays overlooking the Gargano coast in 1959. Today, it is a popular destination for those who prefer under-tourism. The 200-meter-long Pugnochiuso beach is located within the accommodation and can only be accessed through the resort or sea.

Sardinia

In second place in the ranking is San Teodoro, in Sardinia. This is the right destination if you want the Caribbean near home. Let yourself be carried away by crystal clear waters and share unique experiences. The incredible resort is located just a few steps from Cala Brandinchi.

Sicily and Favignana

In third place is Favignana, a completely insular municipality belonging to the Free Municipality of Trapani in Sicily. Its territory corresponds to the archipelago of the Egadi Islands. This includes the "big" islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo and the smaller islets of Maraone and Formica. It offers terrific weeks on a sailing boat. Explore the archipelago's stunning bays and coves, including Cala Rossa, Cala Azzurra, Cala Fredda, Cala Minnola, and Cala Tramontana in Levanzo. These beaches offer fine sand and crystal-clear waters for a memorable experience.

Rimini

Rimini is another great seaside destination that is very popular with those who prefer busy cities. An excellent destination for lovers of the typical Romagna summer made up of lots of fun, good food, and endless beaches.

Bibione

In fifth place, we find Bibione, in Veneto, with its clean and crystalline sea and welcoming and well-equipped beach, making it a leading resort in northern Italy.

Cavallino-Treporti

Sesto is the municipality of Cavallino-Treporti, another "scattered" municipality on our peninsula, with just over 13 thousand inhabitants within Venice's metropolitan city. Its 15-kilometer-long beach is bordered by two lighthouses, that of Cavallino and that of Punta Sabbioni: with its 6 million annual visitors, it is one of the most popular beaches in Italy.

Hotels in Jesolo

In seventh place is another kilometer-long beach, that of the municipality of Jesolo, a favorite destination of the Upper Adriatic, which offers every kind of service. Its beach stretches from the port of Piave Vecchia to Cortellazzo, halfway through the pinewoods.

Mondello to Palermo

Ottava is on the beach of Mondello, a coastal fraction of the municipality of Palermo. It has been a renowned seaside resort for centuries with its numerous Art Nouveau villas near the beach. The wonderful natural scenery completes the frame of this Sicily corner, which is indispensable for summer lovers.

San Vito Lo Capo

And always in Sicily, between Trapani and Palermo, in ninth place is the Municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, a seaside resort of the Free Municipal Consortium of Trapani, which rises at the western end of the Gulf of Castellammare delimiting the beginning of the vast inlet that opens from Capo San Vito to Capo Rama. The town is also famous for hosting - during the last week of September - the famous "Cous Cous Fest," an international exhibition of Mediterranean food and wine culture.

Lignano Sabbiadoro

Tenth place among the best seaside destinations is taken by the municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro, in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It has golden beaches and an intense turquoise sea equipped for every situation. There is an 8-kilometer-long paradise where visitors can relax and enjoy the summer.
